◆ MARKETING GLOSSARY

Marketing, clearly explained.

Marketing terms explained without jargon or sales gloss. This glossary is written for business owners who want to understand what they are buying.

A/B Test Variants testing

Running two versions of an ad, title or page (version A and B) at the same time to measure which performs better. Key Rule: change only one thing between versions — otherwise you don't know what caused the difference.

Ex: we are testing two headlines for an ad. Version A: "Increase sales by 30%". Version B: "Stop Losing Clients". The winner's title remains, the loser is eliminated.

Ad Spend Advertising budget

Total amount of money you spend on Meta or Google to serve ads. Not the same as agency fee — these are separate costs. Ad spend is paid directly to the platform and remains visible in your own account.

Bounce Rate Abandonment rate

Percentage of visitors who come to the page and immediately leave, without any interaction. A high Bounce Rate (above 70%) usually means that the page does not deliver what the ad promises — or that it loads slowly.

Load speed above 3 seconds can double Bounce Rate on mobile devices.

Buffer Temporary memory

A security middleware that captures each lead with a form and stores it before processing. Function: even if there is a technical outage, the lead is not lost — it is delivered as soon as the system resumes.

CAC Cost per Acquisition — Acquisition price

How much does one new customer cost you? Counts: total advertising cost ÷ number of new customers. CAC must be less than LTV (customer lifetime value) for a business to be profitable. If the CAC is 50 KM, and the customer buys only once for 40 KM — you lose money.

Calculate your CAC with ours Budget planner.

CPC Cost Per Click — Price per click

How much you pay each time someone clicks on your ad. CPC depends on the platform, competition, audience and campaign quality, so we always look at it with the number of quality inquiries and sales. Low CPC is not always good — if clickers don't buy, a cheap click has no business value.

CTR Click-Through Rate — Click-Through Rate

Percentage of people who click on an ad out of all who see it. Counts: (clicks ÷ impressions) × 100. A good CTR depends on the platform, target, audience and type of offer. A low CTR can signal that the message or visual solution is not attracting the right attention.

Conversion Rate Conversion rate

Percentage of visitors who perform the desired action (purchase, form filling, call). The rate depends on the offer, the source of the visit and the quality of the site. Conversion improvement can increase the number of inquiries without increasing the ad budget.

CTA Call to Action — Call to action

Direct message telling the user what to do: "Buy now", "Request a quote", "Call". Without a clear CTA, customers don't know what the next step is. Every ad, every page, every email must have one primary CTA.

Decoy effect Psychology of prices

The package comparison makes it easier to choose based on actual scope. Dominacija is recommended when a company needs connected content, ads and measurement without the scope of higher packages.

Funnel Sales Funnel

A series of steps that lead a potential customer from the first contact with the brand to the purchase. A typical funnel: Awareness → Interest → Consideration → Decision → Purchase. At each step, some people "drop out" — the goal is to reduce that loss by optimizing each stage.

Simbia connects repetitive steps, while important decisions and sending remain subject to human approval.

Facebook Pixel Meta tracking pixel

Snippet of JavaScript code that is placed on the site and sends Meta platform data about visitor behavior. It enables retargeting (showing ads to those who have visited the site), tracking conversions and optimizing campaigns towards customers, not just clickers.

hreflang SEO internationalization

HTML attribute that tells Google which version of the page is intended for which language and region. Without hreflang, Google can display the wrong language version to users. Simbia uses separate URLs (/en/, /de/) with hreflang tags for a trilingual site.

Keyword / Key word SEO and PPC term

A word or phrase that users type into Google when searching for something. In SEO: we optimize the page to appear for specific keywords. In Google Ads: We pay to show your ad for those searches. Wrong keyword selection = wasting budget on people who never buy.

Landing Page Destination page

The page where the visitor "lands" after clicking on the ad. Unlike the homepage, the landing page has a single goal — conversion. No distractions, no navigation leading to other pages. One ad, one landing page, one CTA.

Lead Potential customer

A person who showed interest in your product or service — filled out a form, called, sent a message. A lead is not a customer; it is a potential customer that needs to be "warmed up" to purchase. The quality of the leads (can they actually buy) is often more important than the quantity.

LTV Lifetime Value — Customer value

Total income that one customer brings during the entire cooperation with your company. LTV must be greater than CAC to make the business profitable. If the buyer spends 200 KM per year and stays for 3 years, the LTV is 600 KM. If the acquisition costs him 100 KM, the business is profitable.

Meta Ads Facebook & Instagram advertising

Paid advertising on Facebook and Instagram platforms. Meta has one of the most powerful targeting systems — you can target by demographics, interests, behavior, and even by Custom Audiences. Available formats: Images, Videos, Reels, Stories, Carousel.

Workflow automation A self-executing sequence of steps

A system connects repetitive steps into a controlled flow. We use it for enquiry processing, draft preparation and reporting, with human review of important decisions.

Each request from the audit form goes through an automated flow: receives data → Simbia AI generates an audit → goes to your approval → PDF arrives at the client.

PPC Pay Per Click — Payment per click

An advertising model where you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. The opposite is CPM (pay per 1000 impressions). Google Ads and Meta Ads basically use the PPC model. Benefit: You only pay for active interest, not passive impressions.

PWA Progressive Web App

Web application that behaves like a mobile application — it can be "installed" on the phone, works offline and receives push notifications, without installation from the app store.

ROAS Return on Ad Spend — Return on advertising expense

Measures how much KM of revenue is generated by each brand invested in advertising. Formula: campaign revenue ÷ campaign cost. ROAS of 4x means: for 100 KM of cost you have 400 KM of income. The profitability limit depends on the margin, delivery, fees and other business costs.

ROAS is different from ROI — ROI takes into account all costs (not just advertising). ROAS is a faster metric for campaign optimization.

Retargeting Remarketing

Showing advertisements to people who have already visited your site or interacted with your content, with appropriate notice and consent when required. The number of pre-purchase contacts varies by market, product and customer decision.

ROI Return on Investment — Return of investment

Measures the profitability of each investment. Formula: (net profit ÷ total cost) × 100. Unlike ROAS, ROI takes into account all costs — advertising budget, agency fee, cost of goods, shipping. A negative ROI means you're losing money.

Use our ROI calculator for quick calculation.

SEO Search Engine Optimization — Optimization for search engines

SEO improves a website's technical foundation, content and authority to increase organic visibility. Results build gradually and require relevant content, technical maintenance and adaptation to search engine changes.

Rank Tracking Tracking search positions

Technology that monitors position changes in search results. Correct client data requires authorized access to a Search Console account or a dedicated tool; the portal does not show estimated positions as real.

Webhook HTTP callback

An automatic call that one application sends to another as soon as a certain event occurs. When a user fills out a form on the site, the system starts processing immediately — without waiting. The opposite of "polling" where the application has to constantly check for something new.

Analogy: A webhook is like a doorbell — it notifies you when someone comes. Polling is like looking out the window every 5 minutes to see if anyone is at the door.

WebP Web Picture Format

A modern image format that often produces a smaller file than a comparable JPEG or PNG. We use it where it brings a smaller size without noticeable loss of quality, for faster site loading.

Workflow Automated workflow

A series of automated steps that are executed in sequence when a trigger event occurs. Simbia uses automated flows for chat, audit, resources and contact — each with a trigger, data processing, AI generation and final human control.
